Hariata talks about Pancakes - Why are eggs good for us?

On Tuesday this week we made pancakes. We made two batches of pancakes. One with an egg. One without an egg. We talked about why eggs are good for us. Eggs are good for us because they have protein. We recorded our ideas and drew pictures of our body parts that protein is good for - like our hair, brain, nails, puku, heart and bones. Trinity said that the pancakes without the eggs were doughy, most of us thought it just tasted like flour. But we enjoyed it mostly because we liked eating the pancakes with bananas. Bananas are good for us too! They are good because they have vitamins, calcium and potassium which are all good for keeping us healthy.

How to record a retell.

Take a photo. Push the record button. Listen to your message again. If you like it tap the tick button. REMEMBER: TO USE A CLEAR VOICE. TO RECORD MORE THAN ONE IDEA. GIVE IT A GO.

From Darrius - Sharing his learning - READING - I can retell

Darrius - I am learning to talk about the story in my own words. I can USE Blogger Junior to record my idea. I can take a picture of my picture book and record my voice. Sometimes there is a little noise in the background. NEXT TIME: I will try to find a quiet spot in the class or ask people around me to be quiet.

From Whare - learning to use the Blogger Junior app

I can hold the camera up the right way. I can use the tool to record my voice. I can say one simple idea. Next time: I need to think about placing the object up the right way. I can say more, like 3 ideas about the object. Thanks for sharing Whare.

Christopher takes a photo of class work - Vitamins in our foods!

Our class has been learning about fruit and vegetables. We have planted our own potatoes and we hope to harvest them before the end of the term and cook them. In the meantime we are learning about other fruits and vegetables. We are learning about the important things that these foods give us, like vitamins, minerals, carbohydrates and sugars to give us energy. We are learning hand games to help us to remember important words like carbohydrates. We are using thinking tools from SOLO to talk about the cause and effect of not having enough vitamins or minerals in our bodies. We started by talking about what would happen to our bodies if we didn't drink enough water - come into class and look at our results!

From Juliyah - Sharing my learning

We are learning to read, write and match numbers up to 10. We do this by recording on whiteboards with our black pens. We order cut up numbers on the mat, and we sequence them with our buddies. We play sparkle in a circle with our whole class.

Kei te ako a Whare ki te mahi Blogger Junior

Whare is learning how to use the ipad app called Blogger Junior to record his brother Wiremu's learning about water this morning. We are learning about water and why it is good for our bodies. We watched the video together. Whare will need to move closer to Wiremu. Wiremu has to speak louder and clearer. The tamariki in the classroom have to be a little bit more quieter when someone is recording. Darrius had a loud voice today. Darrius please use a class voice next time. Well done Whare

Bella is helping her partner to record a video using the Blogger Jnr

Today Bella's partner recorded a video of her. It was a very short practise video. This video will help us to learn about how to hold an ipad stable and where the record button is. We hope that after several practises we will all know how to take a good video. Thank you Bella for participating in our practise today. Whaea Liz would like to leave this video on the blog to show the progress we will make after 2 weeks or so. In class we are building a success rubric so that we know what to look for and what to do to make a good video.
